We recommend bloodwork, urine and fecal tests annually and exams twice yearly because pets age 3-5 human years during this time. These tests give us a lot of information about your pet.
Did you know that diabetes, kidney disease, liver disease and bladder infections can often be detected by these simple tests? Early detection improves the quality and length of your pet’s life and is far less expensive than treating advanced disease.
IV catheters are a best practice to insure the safety of your pets…
Did you know fecal tests detect many life threatening parasites which can be transmitted to humans?
We require bloodwork before your pets are placed under anesthesia. Potential physical problems can often be revealed through bloodwork. If your pet has any condition which can effect their ability to tolerate anesthesia, we need to know.
Vital sign monitoring (heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation) and use of high quality species appropriate anesthesia is a very critical factor to consider if your pet requires a surgical procedure or dental cleaning. We pay very close attention to these factors and require each and every one of them to be in place when your pet undergoes any anesthetic procedure.
We require an up to date, complete physical examination and vaccines (minimally) before any pet boards with us. This practice helps prevent many viruses and other contagious diseases which your pet or other pets can be exposed to while boarding. This makes the Animal Care Center of Huntington Beach a much safer place to board your pets.
Did you know that animals are susceptible to urine crystals and subsequent obstructions which can lead to life threatening emergencies or surgery (especially in male cats)? This condition can be detected early by a routine urinalysis, often treated with a simple diet change alone.
